Summer Jumping League 2026 - Rules & Guidelines

1. League Format
- The Dog Sports Derby League 2026 consists of 14 heats held throughout the season.
- The league is divided into three separate leagues:
- Grade 1-3
- Grade 4-5
- Grade 6-7
- Overall Handler League, where points from all of a handler’s dogs will be accumulated.
- Each league will have its own separate rankings.
- Competitors may drop their 4 lowest scores, meaning only their best 10 results will count toward their final ranking.
- If a competitor participates in fewer than 10 events, their scores from all attended events will still be accumulated for the league standings.
- If a competitor grades out of a class their points will be carried over to the new grade. For Example (Grade 3 during the season, their points will be carried over to the Grade 4-6 league.)
- At each competition, each handler is required to enter all runs, which include:
- 2 agility runs
- 1 jumping run
- League points are awarded in the jumping run only.

3. Scoring System
- Points are awarded based on finishing position in the jumping run, as follows:
- 1st place = 20 points
- 2nd place = 19 points
- 3rd place = 18 points
- 4th place = 17 points
- 5th place = 16 points
- 6th place = 15 points
- 7th place = 14 points
- 8th place = 13 points
- 9th place = 12 points
- 10th place = 11 points
- 11th place = 10 points
- 12th place = 9 points
- 13th place = 8 points
- 14th place = 7 points
- 15th place = 6 points
4. Final Standings
- At the end of the league, each competitor’s best 10 scores will be added together.
- If a competitor has participated in fewer than 10 events, their total score will be based on all attended events.
- The competitor with the highest total score in each league will be crowned the Dog Sports Derby League Champion for their level.
- The handler with the highest combined total score across all their dogs will be crowned the Overall Handler Winner.
- In the event of a tie, the competitor with the highest individual placements across the counted events will be ranked higher.
5. Eligibility & Participation
- The league is open to all handlers and dogs who meet the competition entry requirements.
- Dogs must be fit, healthy, and able to compete.
- Handlers must adhere to fair play, sportsmanship, and venue rules at all times.
- Competitors will be automatically entered into the league when they enter on Agility Plaza.
6. Event Rules & Conduct
- Standard jumping competition rules apply.
- No surrogate handlers.
- Any misconduct, harsh handling, or failure to follow event regulations may result in penalty points or disqualification from the league.
7. Awards & Recognition
- Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 competitors in each league.
- The Overall Handler Winner will be awarded to the handler with the highest combined points from all their dogs.
- £1,000’s of prizes are up for grabs throughout the league. Including a brand new Galican Dog Walk!
- Presentation & League Prizes will be awarded as follows:
- Monday 21st September for Grade 1-3 League
- Tuesday 22nd September for Grade 4-5 & 6-7 League and the Overall Handler League
- Additional spot prizes may be awarded throughout the league.
